Answer:

Explanation:

We know that whenever a Metal Carbonate is reacted with an Acid, it leads to the formation of Metal Salt + CO2 + H2O .

X is Calcium carbonate (CaCO3).

Let the Acid be H2SO4 -

CaCO3 + H2SO4 =>CaSO4 + CO2 + H2O

Y is Lime water Ca(OH)2 or slaked lime. When this CO2 gas is passed through Lime water , the lime water turns milky due to the formation of Calcium Carbonate and thus it is formed again.

Ca(OH)2 + CO2 =>CaCO3 + H2O

Three important chemicals, NaOH, Cl2, H2, can be obtained by electrolyzing an aqueous NaCl solution (brine).

Chlorine gas is obtained at anode on the electrolysis of Brine Solution.

Therefor G is Chlorine (Cl2)

2Ca(OH)2 + 2Cl2 => Ca(ClO)2 + CaCl2 + 2H2O

The above reaction is of industrial preparation of Bleaching powder.

Z is Bleaching powder[Ca(ClO)2]

Uses of Calcium hydroxide (Y)

Calcium hydroxide is an odorless white powder. It's used in industrial settings, such as sewage treatment, paper production, construction, and food processing. It also has medical and dental uses. For example, root canal fillings often contain calcium hydroxide
