Question 11 :-

Equation : 2x^2 + px - 15 = 0

Given, -5 is a root of this equation.

so, 2(-5)^2 - 5p - 15 = 0

or, 50-15 = 5p

or, 35 = 5p

or, p = 7

From another equation, p(x^2+x)+k = 0 has equal roots

p(x^2+x)+k = 0

px^2 + px + k = 0

Thus, clearly, a = p, b = p, c = k

b^2 - 4ac = 0 (As roots are equal)

or, p^2 = 4pk

or, p × p = 4 p k

or, p = 4 k

or, k = p/4

or, k = 7/4 (as we got p = 7)
