Answer:

 \frac{6}{ - 7} = \frac{42}{x}

6x = - 294

x = \frac{ - 294}{6}

x = - 49

 \frac{6}{-7} = \frac{42}{x} \\ by \: cross \: multiplication \\ 6x = 42(-7) \\ 6x = -294 \\ x = \frac{-294}{6} \\ x = -49
