2x - y = -1                    ...(1)

  • By second condition

∴ 3 ( x - 1) = y

3x - 3 = y

3x - y = 3                  ...(2)

subtracting (1) from (2)

x = 4

y = 9

∴ fraction = x/y = 4/9
