These provide rigidity and resistance to the cell walland prevents it from collapsing during excess transpiration. *Xylem parenchyma are the living cells of the xylem. They perform functions like secretion     and storage.*Xylem fibres are midway between tracheids and xylem parenchyma (libriform fibres).
