Answer: a) 2,8,3

Explanation: M is the third shell

By 2n^2 we get K shell can have 2 electrons, M can have 8 electrons

So it is 2,8,3

b) Total electrons= 2+8+3=13

Electrons=Protons

Number of Protons=13

c) Mass Number= Neutron+Protons

27= Neutron+13

Neutrons = 17

\underline{\underline{\pink{\huge\sf Answer}}}

a) Number of electrons in X is 13 elections

Steps

So here we know that each shell is denoted by letters like K,L,M...and so on so as it is given that the M shell has 3 electrons then we know that there are 2 more shells before the K & L shell. The first shell can have a maximum of 2 elections and he second shell can have a maximum of 8. So then the total number of electrons in M shell is,

\sf 2 + 8 + 3 = 13 \ Elections

b) Electronic Configuration = 2,8,3

Steps

We know that we should fill a shell and only then move to the next shell so as this element has shells till M then the electronic configuration is 2,8,3 (Note : Maximum election in first shell is 2 and the remaining shells can have 8 elections maximum)

c) It will make an anion (positively charged)

Reason

So here we see that the element has 3 elections as its valence electrons (Number of electrons in its outermost shell) so then it's Valency is 3 (it is a metal) so then it will give 3 electrons to attain stability so then as the number of protons will be more than electons it will become positively charged

d) Formula of oxide = \sf Al_2O_3

Steps

We know that the element with 13 elections is Aluminium.So then the Valency of aluminium is 3 & Oxygen Valency is 2. Using criss-cross method we get the formula \sf Al_2O_3
