Q]___?

=> i^2 R

Explanation:

In series LCR circuit at resonance,

capacitive reactance ( Xc )

= inductive reactance ( Xʟ )

i.e 1/ωC = ωL

Total impedance of the circuit

Z = √R^2 + ( Xʟ- Xc ) ^2

Z = √{ R^2 + [ ωL - 1/ ωC ]^2 }

Z = R

So, power factor, cos Φ = R / Z = R / R = 1

Thus, power loss at resonance is

given by

P = Vrms irms cosΦ _[ cosΦ = 1 ]

P = Vrms irms × 1

P = ( irms R ) irms

P = ( irms )^2 R

P = i ^2 R

Thus the power loss at resonance is i ^2 R !
