★Hey there

Just keep one concept in mind, if escalator is moving upwards, then mass acceleration is in favour of mass.  what I mean to say is that mass will increase by ma where a is the acceleration of escalator.

Weight=Mass*Acceleration

mg+ma

=m(g+a)

Hi friend

It is a general concept and you must be known that ,if the elevator (or) lift moves upward with carrying of mass m then the mass is favours with the gravity.

:- w= mg+ma

W= m(g+a).

Note:- If the lift or elevator moves downward with the mass m then the weight becomes

W= mg-ma

W= m(g-a).

Hope this helped you a little!!!

vaibhavpandey1: saka but the correct answer is 3,but how?
vaibhavpandey1: if you explain it...
saka82411: Here it is retarding upward
saka82411: So the condition mg-ms is followed
saka82411: And the gravity is cancelled
vaibhavpandey1: but answer is 3
vaibhavpandey1: ok.
