The mosquito enters through the hole at one corner and then sits at the diagonally opposite pole .

This means that the vector of displacement can be written as :

7 i + 4 j + 3 k where i denotes the unit vector of x-axis , j for y-axis and k for z-axis .

Now we know that magnitude of vector is :

\sqrt{A_x^2+A_y^2+A_z^2}

(a) Hence the magnitude of the given vector would be :

\sqrt{7^2+4^2+3^2}\\\\\implies \sqrt{49+16+9}\\\\\implies \sqrt{74}ft

(b) Now change the coordinate system and take the hole as the center .

Mark the coordinates of each corners and you can calculate each component .

The components of displacement will be :

7 ft , 4 ft and 3 ft .
