John bought 100 eggs for rupees 40.

4 of them were broken.

now he's left with 100 - 4 = 96 eggs

and then he sold the remaining ones @ of rupees 7.50 per dozen.

we know that 12 eggs = 1 dozen

therefore 96 eggs = 96/12

= 8 dozen

total rate of 96 eggs = 8 × 7.50 (since he sold them @ of rupees 7.50 per dozen)

= rupees 60

he gained.

total profit = 60 - 40 = rupees 20

profit percentage = 20/40 × 100

= 50%
