multiple the denominator with 2

2x + 3y = 6

2[x + y = 8]

2x + 3y = 6

-2x + [-2y] = -16

y = -10

substitute in equation (1)

»»» 2x + 3y = 6

»»» 2x + 3(-10) = 6

»»» 2x - 30 = 6

»»» 2x = 6 + 30

»»» 2x = 36

»»» x = 36/2

»»» x = 18
