Mr. X has to cover a certain distance . he covers 2/5th of the total distance by car , 3/10th by bus, 1/5th by auto-rickshaw and the remaining 5 km on foot . What is the total distance?

(2/5)+(3/10)+(1/5) = (9/10)
so remaining part is (1/10) which is equal to 5km
so net distance = 5x10= 50km

since 2/5ths converts into 4/10ths, the distance traveled by bus and care is 7/ths of the total distance. Add another 2 tenths (converted from the auto rickshaw) and we are at 9/10ths the total distance making the remaining 5 km 1/10 of the total distance. To find the total you simply multiply 5 by 10 making the total distance 50 km
