answer is 10

when we rationalise a we get 5-2√6

on rationalising 1/a we get 5+2√6

adding both we get 10

please follow me

vicky54270p5vwfs: how 5- root 6??
sahuraj457: oh . its 5-2√6
vicky54270p5vwfs: yes how??
vicky54270p5vwfs: please can you explain me
sahuraj457: just multiply numerator and denominator by √3-√2
vicky54270p5vwfs: thanks i got it

Step-by-step explanation:

It's b) = 10

Hi there ......

First u have to rationalize a = √3 - √2 /√3 + √2

=√3 - √2 × ( √3 - √2 ) / √3 + √2 × (√3 - √2)

=(√3 - √2)^2 / (√3)^2 - (√2)^2

= (√3)^2 - 2×√3 ×√2 + (√2)^2 / 1

= 3 -2√6 + 2 / 1

= 5 -2√6

●●●●●●

a = 5 - 2√6

Now , a + 1/a = a^2 + 1 / a

Putting a = 5 - 2√6......

( 5 - 2√6) ^2 + 1 / (5 - 2√6)

After opening the bracket using (a- b)^2

= 25 - 20√6 + 24 + 1 / (5 - 2√6)

= (50 - 20√6 ) × ( 5 + 2√6) / (5 - 2√6) × ( 5 + 2√6)

= 250 + 100√6 - 100√6 - 240 / 5^2 - (2√6)^2

= 10 / 1

●●●◆◆◆◆●●●●

Therefore ans = 10
