Let the happy smile be x and sad smile be y

X+Y=13. EQ.1
Y-X=1. EQ.2

Solving eq.1 and eq.2

we get
2Y=14
Y=7

So the value of is 7

here is your answer
if we consider happy smile as x and sad smile as y then....
x+y=13
xy=42
y-x=1
these are three equations
from third x=y-1....put this value of x in first equation
x+y=13
y-1+y=13
2y=14
y=7

therefore sad smile =7
