Let's Eliminate X. So,

$lcm = 35$

$35x + 49y = 350 \\ 35x + 25x = 230 \\ - - - - - - - - \\ (\times) + 74y = 580$

So X is Eliminated

$74y = 580 \\ y = \frac{580}{74} = 8$

Now we found that y = 8*

Using y let's find x

$5x + 7y = 50 \\ y = 8 \\ 5x + 7(8) = 50 \\ 5x + 56 = 50 \\ 5x = 50 - 56 = - 6$

$x = \frac{ - 6}{5} = - 1.2$

∴ x = -1.2 and y = 8.
