Solution-

The given equations are,

3x+4y=12

9x+12y=48

Applying substitution,

\Rightarrow 3x+4y=12

\Rightarrow 4y=12-3x

\Rightarrow y=\frac{12-3x}{4}

Putting this in equation 2,

\Rightarrow 9x+12y=48

\Rightarrow 9x+12(\frac{12-3x}{4})=48

\Rightarrow 9x+3(12-3x)=48

\Rightarrow 9x+36-9x=48

\Rightarrow 0+36=48

This system of equations doesn't have a solution.

3x+4y=12,\ 9x+12y=48

4y=12-3x,\ 12y=48-9x

y=3-\frac{3}{4}x ,\ y=4-\frac{3}{4}x

Comparing these with the general slope-intercept form of line, we get that both the lines have same slope, i.e they are parallel.

Because these two are parallel lines, so they never intersect. That is why they do not have any solution.
