We have an equation,

4x² + 3x + 5 = 0

x² + 3/4x + 5/4 = 0

x² + 2 ( 3/8 x ) = -5/4

x² + 2 ( 3/8 )x + ( 3/8 )²  = (3/8)² - 5/4

( x + 3/8 )²  = - 71/64

Clearly RHS is negative.
