by elimination method

5x-3y=8

3x+ y=2

take the constants to this side

5x-3y-8=0 •••• eq1

3x+ y-2=0 •••• eq2

take lcm of 5,3=15

now multiply eq 1 with 3 and eq 2 with 5

15x-9y-24=0

15x+5y-10=0

now subtract eq1 from eq2

14y+14=0 y=-1

substitute y=-1 in equation to get value of x

15x+9-24=0 15x=15 x=1

therefore y=-1, x=1

hope it's help ful to all
