Answer:

x=-2 or x= -1

Step-by-step explanation:

First , find a pair of numbers that will you give the sum equal to the coefficient of x(3 in this case) and product as the constant(2 in this case)

In this case, the numbers are 1 and 2 , (2+1=3, 2x1= 2)

x2+3x+2=0

now, split the middle using the pair of numbers.

x2 +1x+2x+2=0

1 and 2 become 1x and 2x , so that we can get their sum as 3x(in this case).

Next group them and take the common out - (x2+1x)+(2x+2)=0

x is common for the first group while 2 is common for the second one.

x(x+1)+2(x+1) = 0

then ,

(x+2)(x+1) = 0

then equate both of  them to zero separately

x+2= 0

x= -2

x+1=0

x=-1
