Hi ,

Compare x² + 6x + 5 = 0 with ax² + bx + c = 0 ,

a = 1 , b = 6 , c = 5

discreaminant ( D ) = b² - 4ac

D = 6² - 4 × 1 × 5

D = 36 - 20

D = 16

√D = ± 4 ---( 1 )

By Quadratic formula ;

x = [ ( -b ± √D )/2a ]

x = [ ( -6 ± 4 )/( 2 × 1 ) ]

x = ( -6 + 4 )/2 ] or x = ( -6 - 4 )/2

x = -2/2 or x = -10/2

x = -1 or x = -5

I hope this helps you.

Answer:

x=-5 OR x=-1

Step-by-step explanation:

x² + 6x + 5 =0

x² + 5x + x + 5 =0

x(x+5) +1(x+5) =0

(x+5) (x+1) = 0

x+5=0 OR x+1= 0

x=-5 OR x=-1
