=> x-6y=16

=>x=16+6y...............(1)

3x-2y=24............(2)

Putting the value in (2) from (1)

3(16+6y)-2y=24

=>48+18y-2y=24

=> 16y=24-48

=>16y= -24

=>y= -24/16

=>y= -3/2

putting this value in (1)

x= 16+6(-3/2)

=> x= 16-9

=>x=9
