First solving equation 1

x+3y=16

x=16-3y

Substituting x in equation 2

2x-y=4

2(16-3y)-y=4

32-6y-y=4

-7y=4-32

-7y=-28

y=4                  [We got the value of y]

Substituting the value of y in eq.2

2x-y=4

2x-(4)=4

2x=4+4

2x=8

x=4               [We got the value of x]

Hence , found the value of x and y which is 4 and 4 respectively.
