 \frac{x + 3}{x - 3}  = 5 \:  \\  \\ moving \: x \:  - 3 \: onto \: other \: side \:  \\  \\ x + 3 = 5(x - 3) \\  \\  = x + 3 = 5x - 15 \\  \\ moving \: same \: terms \: on \: same \: side \:  \\  \\  = x - 5x =  - 15 - 3 \\  \\  = 4x = 18 \\  \\ x =  \frac{18}{4}
