ANSWER

p,6,9 are in continued proportion

So p=3

9:5::y:20

y= 9 ×20 ÷ 5

y = 36

12 books cost 960

So 1 book costs 960/12 = 70

So 45 books will cost 45 ×70 = 3150

Hope it helps

Answer:

1. 4

2. 36

3. Rs 3600

Step-by-step explanation:

1k terms of the proportion are:- p,6,6,9

As as per the rule of proportion is concerned, products of means = product of extremes.

Therefore, A/Q, (p×9) = (6×6)

= 9p = 36

= p = (36/9)

= p = 4

Hence, the value of p is 4.

2. As as per the rule of proportion is concerned, products of means = product of extremes.

Therefore, A/Q, (9×20) = (5×y)

= 180 = 5y

= 5y = 180

= y = (180/5)

= y = 36

Hence, the value of y is 36

3. Cost of 12 books is Rs.960

Therefore, cost of 1 book is Rs. (960/12)

Hence, cost of 45 books is Rs (960×45/12)

= Rs 3600

Therefore, cost of 45 books is Rs 3600.
