Answer :

x = 340 , y = -165

Solution :

Here ,

The given equations are ;

x/10 + y/5 - 1 = 0

x/8 + y/6 = 15

The given equations can be rewritten as ;

=> x/10 + y/5 - 1 = 0

=> (x + 2y - 10)/10 = 0

=> x + 2y - 10 = 0

=> x + 2y = 10 ---------(1)

Also ,

=> x/8 + y/6 = 15

=> (3x + 4y)/24 = 15

=> 3x + 4y = 15 × 24

=>3x + 4y = 360 ---------(2)

Now ,

Multiplying eq-(1) by 3 , we get ;

=> 3(x + 2y) = 10×3

=> 3x + 6y = 30 ---------(3)

Now ,

Subtracting eq-(2) from (3) , we get ;

=> (3x + 6y) - (3x + 4y) = 30 - 360

=> 3x + 6y - 3x - 4y = -330

=> 2y = -330

=> y = -330/2

=> y = -165

Now ,

Putting y = -165 in eq-(1) , we get ;

=> x + 2y = 10

=> x + 2×(-165) = 10

=> x - 330 = 10

=> x = 10 + 330

=> x = 340

Hence ,

x = 340 , y = -165
