x+y=6.......eq.1

x-y=2........ eq.2

x+y=6

= x=6-y..... eq.3

put equation 3 in equation 2

x-y=2

=6-y-y=2

=6-2y=2

=-2y= -4

=y=-4/-2

y=2

put y =2 in equation 3

x=6-y

x=6-2

x=4
