x = 1, y = 2

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Here, we are given two linear equations. They are said to be linear equation. Because, the highest power in any term is 1.
  • Here, we should know that we are asked to find out the values of two variables as x and y.
  • In Algebra, we are required two equations to find out the values of two variables.
  • It means, we can find out  the values of both variables easily.
  • Now, x + 2y - 5 = 0    .....(1)
  • 2x - y = 0        ........(2)

From equation (2), we have,

       2x = y

          x = \dfrac{y}{2}  put this value of x, in equation (1).

  • \dfrac{y}{2} + 2y - 5 = 0

y + 4y - 10 = 0

5y - 10 = 0

5y = 10

y =\dfrac{10}{5}

  • y = 2 Put this value of y in (2).

2x - 2 = 0

      2x = 2

        x = \dfrac{2}{2}

        x = 1

Thus, x = 1, y = 2
