X = -9/2   Y = 25/6

Step-by-step explanation:

1- X + 3Y = 8

2- 4x+ 6y = 7

1*2 = 2X + 6Y = 16

2*1 = 4x + 6y =   7

--------------------------

        -2x       =   9

--------------------------

X = -9/2

Substitute x = -9/2 in equation -1

X + 3Y = 8

-9/2 + 3Y = 8

3Y = 8 + 9/2

3Y = 16+9/2

3Y = 25/2

6Y = 25

Y =  25/6
