Answer:

x+4y=2.....eq(1st)

2x-y=-14....eq(2nd)

now multiply eq 1 by 2

(x+4y=2)2

2x+8y=4....eq(3rd)

now subtract eq2nd by eq3rd

2x+8y=4

2x-y =-14

- + +

________

9y=18

y=18/9

y=2.....eq(4th)

now put eq 4th in eq2nd

2x-y=-14

2x-2=-14

2x=-14+2

2x=-12

x=-12/2

x=-6
