Answer:

= x/5 - x/4 = 3-8

= 4x/20 - 5x/20 = -5

= -x/20 = -5

= -x = -5 × 20 = -100

= x = 100

To find : the value of x

Given : \frac{x}{5} - 3 = \frac{x}{4} - 8

Solution :

  • To find the value of x we transfer terms with variables to LHS and terms with constants to RHS .
  • By performing simple addition and subtraction operations we find value of x.

          \frac{x}{5} - \frac{x}{4} = -8 + 3 \\\frac{4x - 5x}{20} = -5 \\\frac{-x}{20} = -5 \\-x = (-5)\times 20 \\x = 100

Hence , value of x is 100.
