(x+6)/y=6
y=(x+6)/6. (i)
SUBSTITUTING IN (ii),
(3x-8)/y=5
(3x-8)/5=y
(3x-8)/5=(x+6)/6
(3x-8)6=(x+6)5
18x-48=5x+30
18x-5x=30+48
13x=78
x=6

SUBSTITUTING IN (i),
y=(x+6)/6
y=(6+6)/6
y=12/6
y=2

HENCE, x=6, y=2
