2x - 3y = 13 ×2

7x - 2y = 20 ×3

4x - 6x = 26

21x-6x = 60

___________

- + -

___________

-17x = -34

x= -34/-17

x=2

2x-3y=13

2×2-3y=13

4-3y=13

-3y=13-4

-3y=9

y=9/-3

y=-3

Answer:

Solution :-

1st Equation

2x - 3y = 13 ……(i)

2nd Equation

7x - 2y = 20 ……(ii)

On multiplying (i) by 2 and (ii) by 3

⇒ 4x - 6y = 26 ……(iii)

⇒ 21x - 6y = 60 …….(iv)

On subtracting (iii) from (iv)

⇒ 17x = (60 – 26)

⇒ 17x = 34

⇒ x = 34/17

⇒ x = 2

Putting x value in Eq (i)

⇒ 2x - 3y = 13

⇒ 4 – 3y = 13

⇒ 3y = (4 – 13) = -9

⇒ y = -3

Hence, the solution is x = 2 and y = -3.
