Solve x and y , 3x+y-3=0; 2x-y+8=0

Let 3x+y-3=0 ---------- ( 1 )

Let 2x-y+8=0 ----------- ( 2 )

Add ( 1 ) and ( 2 )

3x +y -3 = 0

2x -y +8 = 0

5x +5 = 0

=>5x = -5

=> x =-5/5

Therefore, x= -1 -------- ( 3 )

Putting ( 3 ) in ( 1 ), we have -

3x+y-3=0

=> 3(-1) +y-3=0

=> -3+y-3=0

=> y-6=0

=>y=6

Thus the required values of x and y are -1 and 6 respectively
