Ans. Let 1/ x+y= a , 1/ x- y = b
Now according to question,
5a + b = 2......(i)
15a - 5b = - 2.....(ii)
by elimination method.....
(5a + b = 2) 5
15a - 5b = - 2

25a + 5b = 10
15a +- 5b = -2
___________
40a = 8
____________
a = 1/ 5
For b. .by equation (i)....
5 × 1/5 + b = 2
b= 1
now......
as we have taken above when we started the question......
1 / x+ y= a
1/ x+ y = 1/ 5
x+y = 5.....(iii)
1/ x- y = b
1/ x- y = 1
x- y = 1.......(iv)
from iii & iv
x+y = 5
x- y = 1
_______
x= 6
_________
now.....
6 + y = 5 ( from above)
y = - 1
