★ LINEAR REDUCTION ★

Substituting methods -

x + y = 14 ... ( i )

x - y = 4 ... ( ii )

x = 4 + y , from equation ( ii )

now , substituting in equation ( i )

4 + y + y = 14

2y + 4 = 14

2y = 14 - 4 = 10

y = 5

Hence , x - y = 4
x = 4 + y = 4 + 5 = 9

Therefore , x = 9 and y = 5
