X+y = 2
X = 2-y
put this value in second equation
2x -3y = 9
2(2-y) -3y = 9
4-2y -3y = 9
4-5y = 9
4-9 = 5y
5y = -5
y = -1
X = 2-(-1)
X = 2+1=3
