x + y = 3 .....(i)

2x + y = -2.....(ii)

multiply eqn (i) by 2 and subtract with (ii)

2x + 2y = 6 ......(iii)

2x + y = -2.........(iv)

y = 8

put the value of y in eqn (i)

x = -5
