putting the value of x=3+y in equation(2)

we get, 3(3+y)-2y =10.

9+3y -2y = 10

y =10-9=1

putting the value of y=1 in equation (1)

we get. x-1=3

x=3+1=4

Thus the value of x=4 and y=1 is found by substitution method.
