x + y = 7 \\ 2x - 3y = 4 \: - - - > |1| \\ now. \\ x = 7 - y \: - - - > |2| \\ substituting |2| in |1| \\ 2 |7 - y| - 3y = 4 \\ 14 - 2y - 3y = 4 \\ 14 - 5y = 4 \\ 5y = 14 - 4 \\ 5y = 10 \\ y = \frac{10}{5} \\ y = 2 \\ \\ from |2| . \\ x = 7 - y \\ x = 7 - 2 \\ x = 5

Hope it helps.
