From

x + y = 7

x= 7 - y

Putting value of x in 2x - 3y = 9

2(7 - y) - 3y = 9

14 - 2y - 3y = 9

-2y - 3y = 9 -14

- 5y = - 5

y = -5/-5

y = 1

Now,x= 7 - 1

x = 6
