Answer:

x + y = 7 ----> (1)

x - y = 1 ------> (2)

Now, (1) + (2) we get

=> 2x = 8

=> x = 4.

Now, putting the value of x in (1)

=> 4 + y = 7

=> y = 7 - 4

=> y = 3

SOLUTION:-

Given:

x+y =7 & x-y = 1 by elimination method.

Therefore,

⚫x+y = 7............(1)

⚫x-y = 1.............(2)

From equation (1), we get;

=) x+ y = 7

=) x= 7- y............(3)

So,

Putting the value of of x in equation (2), we get;

=) 7-y - y = 1

=) 7 -2y = 1

=) -2y = 1-7

=) -2y = -6

=) y= -6/-2

=) y= 3

Eliminate the value of y in equation (3), we get;

=) x = 7 -y

=) x= 7 - 3

=) x= 4

Hence,

The number required is x = 4 & y= 3.

Hope it helps ☺️
