By solving both by elimination method,

       x + y = 8

       x  - y = 2

     2x     = 10 ( due to alternative signs y will get cancelled out)

         x = 10/2

Substitute 3 in equation 1

x + y = 8

5 + y = 8

y = 8 - 5

y = 3

Therefore,
