How do you solve equation 4 (x² -x) ²-11 (x²-x) +6=0 for x?

Put s=(x^2 - x) and Rewrite the above equation.

4s^2 - 112 +6=0

This is a quadratic equation .

s={11 +/- ✔(121 -4*4*6)}/2*8

s=2

s=3/4

Substituting s value (s=2)

x^2 -x = 2

x^2 - x - 2=0 ( A quadratic equation again )

(x+1)(x -2 )= 0

x= - 1 Or x=2 ————-(i)

Substituting s value (s=3/4)

x^2 - x =3/4

Or x^2 - x - 3/4= 0 (Again a quadratic eqn.)

Or 4x^2 - 4x - 3 =0

x=[4 +/- ✔{(16–4*4*(-3)}]/2*4

x=5/4 Or x= - 1/4 ————-(ii)

Combining (i)&(ii) values, we get

x={5/2 ,2, (- 1/4), (-1) □ANSWER.
