Answer:

x + y = 7--------Equation 1 (multiply by 5)

5x + 12y = 7--------Equation 2 (multiply by 1)

We get,

5x + 5y = 35

5x + 12y = 7

Now we change signs,

5x +5y = 35

-5x -12y = -7

Now we get,

-7y = 28

y = 28/ -7

y = -4

Now we substitute y's value in equation 1,

x + y = 7

x + -4 =7

x = 7+4

x = 11

Therefore x = 11 and y = -4

Hope this helps you........
