multiply eq 1 by 1 and 2 by 7

7x-15y=2
7x+14y=21

subtract eq. 1st from 2nd

7x+14y=21
7x-15y=2
=>29y=19
y=19/29

put the value of y in eq1st

x+2x19/29=3

29x+38=87
29x=87-38
29x=49
x=49/29

Solution of equations are \bf \red{x =  \frac{49}{29}} and \bf \red{y =  \frac{19}{29}}

Given:

  • Two linear equations.
  • 7x - 15y = 2 ...eq1\: \text{and} \: x + 2y = 3 ...eq2\\

To find:

  • Solution of equations using Elimination method.

Solution:

Step 1:

Multiply eq2 by 7 and subtract both equations.

7x - 15y = 2 \\ 7x + 14y = 21 \\ ( - ) \:  \: ( - ) \:  \:  \: ( - ) \\  -  -  -  -  -  -  \\  - 29y =  - 19 \\  -  -  -  -  -  -  \\

or

\bf y =  \frac{19}{29}  \\

Step 2:

Put the value of y in eq2.

x + 2 \times  \frac{19}{29}  = 3 \\

or

x +  \frac{38}{29}  = 3 \\

or

x = 3 -  \frac{38}{29}  \\

or

x =  \frac{87 - 38}{29}  \\

or

\bf x =  \frac{49}{29}  \\

Thus,

Solution of equations are x =  \frac{49}{29}  \\ and y =  \frac{19}{29}  \\ .
