Step-by-step explanation:

6x + 5y -16 = 0

x - y - 1 = 0

so sum up both equations

7x + 4y - 17 = 0

now suppose x = 2 then,

7(2) + 4y - 17 = 0

14 + 4y - 17 = 0

4y - 3 = 0

4y = 3

y = 3/4 or 0.75

put Y = 0.75 value in above

7x + 4(0.75) - 17 = 0

7x + 3 -17 = 0

7x - 14 = 0

7x = 14

x = 2

So value of X = 2 and Y = 0.75

so after putting these values into above equation if we get equal to zero then our values are right

ok

7(2) + 4(0.75) - 17 =0

14 + 3 - 17 = 0

17 -17 = 0

So we have the correct values
