To obtain petrol or diesel we requires crude oil which is limited in nature. We need these products to run petrol/diesel engines whereas for electric car, electricity can be obtained from many ways such as electricity can be from renewable energy sources such as solar, hydro, nuclear. Electric cars hence helps us in preserving mineral resources (i.e crude oil)

In India, we get electricity from coal which again non renewable energy source and it also causes air pollution so in this case even electric car is indirectly harmful to environment like petrol diesel car
