Some character art tips for beginners:

@ Watch and follow tutorials for drawing (hands, face, shading, colouring, etc...)

@ Try drawing your favorite characters before drawing your own OCs (Original Characters)

@ Don't add too much of detail, color, accessories, etc... on your OC.

@ Keep drawing till you improve. (no, not literally, you must take breaks.)

@ Try creating your own art style after you get a little better.
