Emigration means leaving a country permanently to live in another and Immigration mean moving into a new country and getting settled there. For example, if a person moves away from your country to live in another country, that person will be emigrant to you but for the other country the person is an immigrant.

For Example :

➡️During the potato famine in Ireland between 1845 and 1849, roughly 1.5 million adults and children emigrated from Ireland to find a better life elsewhere, the main country of refuge being the United States.

➡️My grandparents immigrated to the United States in the 1920s.
