DISPLACEMENT REACTIONS.

A displacement reaction is a reaction in which an atom, or a group of atoms, present in a molecule isdisplaced by another atom.

.............................................

For example :-

iron when added to a solution of copper sulphate displaces copper metal.

Hey mate !

Note : " It is necessary the displaced element is less reactive then the element who displace them."

Fe + CuSO4 ====> FeSO4 + Cu

The given reaction has Iron and copper Sulphate solution when it will react the copper is displaced by IRON .

Zn + H2SO4 ====> ZnSO4 + H2 liberate

Here Zn is more reactive then Hydrogen so it is displaced by zinc.

See reactive chart

If you react Copper with H2SO4 , copper will not displace the Hydrogen due to less reactivity.
